Ahmed is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), known by his clients as “Z-beast”.
After practicing law for 10 years Ahmed decided to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a personal trainer. Ahmed has been active since he was a child, playing competitive soccer and handball in high school, and now enjoys swimming, running outdoors, tennis, horseback riding, and kickboxing.
Ahmed has a client-centered approach to fitness, and believes that no matter what your goal is, it is achievable. All human bodies are different, and Ahmed focuses on tailoring his coaching based on the individual needs and limits of his clients. He focuses on helping clients become the best version of themselves, providing the knowledge, motivation and support.
For two years, Alexandra Chili was an international hoop queen/pro-baller in Europe and she channels that athletic spirit to this day. Her basketball experience taught her the importance of dedication and practice to progress to new heights. As a NASM certified personal trainer, Chili hopes to inspire her clients to find their inner athlete — one who is diligent, tough and fully capable of achieving their dreams. Chili also teaches yoga (200 RYT) and believes in strengthening the mind with the body. She sees the individual and will work hard to help anyone cultivate power and presence so that we can all live our most optimized lives.
Alex is an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer. Growing up she played soccer and ran track and field, but she didn’t find a true passion for fitness until a little later in her life. She graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in Exercise Science. After college, Alex started weight training more and found a true love for the fitness industry. She loved the new challenges that weight lifting brought and how empowering being strong felt. Now she wants to help others find ways to challenge themselves, stay motivated and feel empowered through their own fitness journeys.
Alex has trained a variety of clients, including: clients transitioning from physical therapy, pre/post natal women, high school athletes and weight loss clients. She loves using a wide variety of movements and exercises to keep her training fun and interesting. Her philosophy is that we aren’t just training for that one event or competition, we are training for life – to live happier and healthier. No matter what your goals are they can be achieved with hard work, motivation and the right guidance.
Ali is a fitness professional with over 10 years of experience dedicated to helping people reach their health and fitness goals. He is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is well-versed in a variety of training methodologies. Ali’s other certifications include Corrective Exercise Specialist, Fitness Nutrition Specialist, and TRX Suspension Training Level 1. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey and a Master’s in business from Coventry University in the UK. Ali is an expert in creating customized, intelligent and motivational programs for all levels. He loves educating people while training, whether you’re a professional athlete trying to perform better, a sedentary office employee who wants to have a beach body, a mom-to-be wants to prepare for a healthier pregnancy or an active individual that needs post-surgery rehab. Alie is a certified personal trainer with NASM and has a passion for the transformative power of fitness. While she has her degree in International Studies from Dickinson College, she has been learning about and spreading the joy of exercise to those around her for years. Her interest began when she decided to sign up for the Tough Mudder. She soon got into powerlifting and HIIT-style workouts. Throughout college, she encouraged her friends to step outside of their comfort zone and showed them the ropes in the weight room. Their results – both mentally and physically – inspired her. She is a huge proponent of the holistic effects of exercise and believes that working out strengthens not just the body, but also the mind. She approaches training with intention, truly listening and helping each individual reach his or her goals.
Allen is a NASM certified personal trainer. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Pre Professional Physical Therapy. He enjoys working with all types of clients and working through challenges to help clients toward their fitness goals. He is passionate about running and how it can improve the quality of life for everyone. Allen believes that people’s health is their wealth so taking care of the body is key to living a happy and prosperous life.

While completing her bachelors in Psychology at Florida International University, Alyssa discovered her passion in life through exercise and nutrition. She decided to turn her passion into a career and became a certified personal trainer through NASM and is currently working towards a Masters degree in Nutrition in pursuit to become a Registered Dietician. Alyssa preaches adherence, sustainability, and balance. She believes although there may be optimal routes to achieving a goal, if it isn’t something you can stick with, it isn’t optimal for you. She is truly fascinated by not just the physical changes, but more importantly the mental improvements a life of fitness brings. She has had the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele and is committed to helping others achieve a happier and healthier life.
Amanda is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer and VIDA Master Trainer with over a decade of experience. Several years ago, Amanda rebuilt her own life and reclaimed her physical and mental health through a commitment to fitness and movement. After experiencing her own transformation, she decided to dedicate her life to helping others do the same. She believes that working out should be a fun and joyful expression of self-love. Depending on a client’s needs, Amanda brings a wide variety of specialties to her sessions including Strength Training, Women’s Fitness, HIIT, Barre and Yoga. Amanda is also a devoted long-distance runner. When she’s not in the gym, you can find her meditating, hanging out with her rescue dog Gordon and dancing as much as possible.
Andy is a Master trainer with VIDA Fitness with five years of personal training experience. Andy specializes in strength and power based training sessions. Andy also has certifications in corrective exercise so he can help clients correct any muscle imbalances or weakness to then progress them into higher intensity strength training. Andy enjoys working with all types of members and enjoys the challenge of designing various programs for these different exercise backgrounds. Andy truly enjoys motivating his clients and helping them push past their fitness goals.
Anthony grew up in up-state New York participating in a variety of activities throughout is life (football, wrestling and snowboarding) which gave him the motivation to want to pursue a career in the fitness industry. Anthony used this background and career goal to earn a bachelor’s degree in Wellness Management from SUNY. Since he graduated from college Anthony has spent the last seven years working in the fitness industry and the last five years as a personal trainer. Anthony is certified through NPTI and holds a TRX training certification.
In 2010 Ari relocated to the DC area from Virginia Beach to persue a career in fitness, along that journey he has continued to grow and learn with every client. His passion has developed a unique mind, and skill set amongst the training staff here at Vida, focusing on proper muscle unit recruitment, strengthening limb support structures, and developing a fully functional core. With a background in sustained weight loss, and post physical therapy training programs; Ari enjoys the challenge of helping clients come to terms with physical limitations, while simultaneously exceeding their expectations. Don’t be scared though, Ari is great at reading people, and will change a workout on the fly to generate stress relief, or even laughter.
Arina was born and raised in a small city in Siberia, Russia. She is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. As former volleyball player, athlete and professional dancer, Arina found her way to fitness and coaching. Suffering from her own injuries, she became highly interested in anatomy and physiology. She has been in the sport and fitness industry since 2011, from volleyball coaching, dance competitions to teaching group classes. With all this experience she discovered a passion for helping others. Determination and discipline are her favorite keys to success. She is joining the bodybuilding team this year and preparing her body for the Bikini Contest.

As a former Division-1 athlete playing basketball at Hampton University, Bakari developed a passion for strength and conditioning. Following graduation, he went on to earn a Master’s degree in Kinesiology & Fitness Management from Indiana University – Bloomington. Bakari brings over 7 years of experience in personal training and group fitness instruction, including boot camps, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, high intensity interval training, and CrossFit. He believes that a fit and healthy lifestyle starts with a strong foundation of consistency, hard work and discipline. Bakari often tells himself and his clients to “Do what you have to do, so you can do what you want to do!”
Bill has been a personal trainer with VIDA Fitness for four years. Bill strongly believes that the body should be trained as a complete unit and thus performs many total body workouts with his clients. Regardless of the exercise type or intensity Bill believes that proper posture, alignment and body mechanics should always be adhered to. Bill challenges his clients to continually improve upon their flexibility, strength and overall body condition. You will be hard pressed to train with anyone who will provide you with the depth and quality of personal attention as Bill offers.
Brandon is a certified personal trainer with NPTI, a Functional Movement Screen Professional Levels 1 & 2, a certified TRX suspension trainer, and also a certified Level 1 CrossFit instructor. Recently returned to the D.C. area after spending time in Los Angeles, Brandon has over a decade of training experience with a range of client types at elite fitness clubs on both coasts. His commitment to his clients’ performance is what truly sets Brandon apart, as well as his passion for helping his clients live their best lives, as he strives to do every day. He is dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, and strongly believes that focusing on both nutrition and exercise is the key to success. Brandon continually and successfully pushes his clients to overcome tremendous physical and mental obstacles and achieve their goals. He is particularly skilled at creating unique, personalized fitness programs that evolve in lockstep with clients’ goals, and is also expert at working closely with clients to identify and incorporate any unique needs or physical limitations. Brian strives to help clients achieve overall well-being in addition to meeting their individual physical goals. That means every session is focused on strengthening a sound body and mind. He actively listens to clients’ needs, restrictions, and aspirations to ensure they are always getting the attention they deserve and never “just going through the motions.”
Brian received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University in 2008. He has been a fitness trainer for nine wonderful years. Running through Rock Creek and spending time with his son are his two favorite things to do when he is not training Washingtonians.
Brinton is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has over 8 years of weight training experience and has an athletic background as an athlete in basketball. He enjoys sports specific workouts to build athletic performance as well as bodybuilding to improve physique. He loves building client morale and helping achieve fitness goals in the quickest most effective and enjoyable way possible. He has a B.S. in Sports Medicine with a minor in biology from Howard University and a background in athletic training.
Britt is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He graduated from Georgetown University on a full academic scholarship with a double major in Philosophy and African American Studies. Due to struggling with obesity during most of his childhood, he highly empathizes with his clients’ needs. After making a serious lifestyle change in 2014 while living in Japan, he fully dedicated his time to developing his mind, body and spirit. He has lost over 45 pounds of fat and gained 13 pounds of muscle in the process. Britt harmonizes the fields of yoga, bodybuilding, and metabolic conditioning. He is committed to educating his clients on how to be smart, effective, and efficient in their workouts. Furthermore, he emphasizes to his clients that physical training disciplines both the body and mind. He is currently in a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program and plans to teach group classes as well as private sessions.
Cat began her fitness career as a personal trainer at VIDA Gallery Place in 2013. In 2016, she took on the role of Personal Training Manager at VIDA Logan Circle before being promoted to General Manager in 2019. Cat holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science from Boston University. During her time at BU, she spent two years as an athletic training student, working with various athletic teams at BU and MIT. After graduation, she spent five years in the health policy world.
An avid golfer, she is a Level 3 Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Professional and is currently working with several clients to improve their golf swing. In her free time, Cat competes in local and regional weightlifting competitions as a part of CHFP Weightlifting Club, where she is coached by former US Olympian, Cara Heads Slaughter. Cat’s additional certifications include American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer (ACE), USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach, Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and TRX. During her time at VIDA she has also taught VIDA Barre, boot camp, TRX, and continues to teach Pilates Reformer.
Charles comes from a medical family and has been involved in athletics all his life. This gave him the platform to launch his fitness career. He attended Indiana University where he attained a B.S. in Kinesiology. Charles’ fitness philosophy is one that is centered around a sound physiological approach. This means making sure that the body is always in a position to build, and burn, and at the appropriate times (good form, good posture, balancing the muscle groups worked, etc.). Charles does this while following what’s called the functional progression, which is a building block approach that can be applied to any and all exercises and movement patterns.
Chris is a trainer focused on science based strength and conditioning practices. Chris incorporates information from a broad array of sources- including biology, psychology, anatomy, and physiology- to inform his methods. With a diverse and long background in a multitude of athletic endeavors, Chris is committed to not only helping his clients achieve their goals but also their own personal enjoyment. If exercise is medicine, Chris believes that you are more likely to take your daily dose if you like the flavor! Chris specializes in producing adaptive training plans to help meet his clients’ individual goals, while also helping them tap into unknown reserves of physical and mental strength, all while having fun.
Chris currently holds a B.S. in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology from Towson University, where he began his training career while being responsible for the Strength and Conditioning program of a Division 1 Collegiate Rugby Club for over 2 years. He is currently preparing for his NASM C.S.C.S certification.
Christine is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer, and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (200 hour). Christine earned her BA in political science and art history from Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). She has always loved sports and fitness, having played almost every sport you can think of, from softball to basketball to golf. She has run five marathons and is training for her first triathlon. Upon moving to DC, she worked on Capitol Hill, all the while pursuing her yoga teacher training certification, her personal training certification, and her certificate in holistic health coaching. After nearly 8 years, she transitioned to a full-time fitness career and joined the Vida team.
Christine believes that fitness should be fun, and that health and fitness is an integral part of a happy life. She focuses on conditioning, weight loss/maintenance, and building long, lean muscle. She will work with you to create a safe environment, where you feel free to communicate your needs. She’ll push you to your edge, but keep it friendly, fun, and safe. She also teaches several yoga classes at Vida, including power yoga, vinyasa, and restorative/gentle yoga.
Christine Mince is a NFPT certified trainer, and a fitness nutrition specialist. She has 8 years of experience and a degree in English literature with a minor in Educational studies and Dance. Her love for fitness starter from a young age when she started with ballet and gymnastics. Since then she has become an avid runner and triathlete and has run the New York, Boston and Chicago marathons a long with about a dozen half marathons. She believes that strength training is an extremely important aspect for endurance athletes and loves to teach them how it can benefit their performance. She loves working with clients of all abilities, from beginners to experienced athletes.
Craig has his personal training certification from NASM and earned a degree from Howard University in Nutrition. He has additional certifications that include prenatal and TRX. His love for activity has included years of track and field, basketball and baseball. His enthusiasm for activity carries over into his training with his clients as he forces them to ask themselves “how do we find your passion for fitness”? His latest joy is training seniors. His belief is that even in your golden years you may not be as fast or strong as the younger person, but your are definitely in the fitness game!
Philosophy: It sound so cliché , but I believe that, just as in all endeavors, including training, all goals can be achieved with hard work and dedication. Sacrifices and smalls steps are needed to reach that goal but each step should be taken one at a time. Put in the hard work and reap the benefits of the rewards!
Danielle is a certified personal trainer with National Academy of Sports Medicine. Helping others has always been a passion of hers since grade school. From ballet rehearsals to gymnastic practices to softball huddles, she was fascinated with physical ability. Suffering from her own injuries, she became extremely interested with anatomy and physiology. Today, Danielle shares the same interest with her clients. Her goal is not only to train herself, but others for longevity. Danielle believes you need a strong work ethic and determination in order to overcome and/or prevent physical limitations. Danielle’s training style is designed to promote strength and conditioning techniques, along-side enjoyment. She loves seeing her clients not only improve but smile while doing it.
A native of Los Angeles, California, Danielle studied Political Science at California State University, Long Beach. She holds a personal training certification from the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher 500-hours through YogaWorks. Danielle specializes in yoga and resistance training as she links breath with movement, encouraging clients to develop their mind-body connection to achieve maximum athletic ability. Be prepared to improve flexibility & mobility, develop core strength, and increase performance endurance.
Daryl is ISSA and NCCPT Certified. He is also a Certified Elite Calisthenics Specialist, and has over 17 years experience in Cardio-Weight Training, plus Conditioning. He teaches TRX and Boot Camp Groups.He has a knack for what he likes to call “Body Sculpting”. It’s tapping into the bodies potential and methodically cultivating it. Through creative, yet systematic regiments created by him the body is finely tuned and chiseled. Thus bringing about a mentally tougher, physically leaner, stronger and mobile client. He loves to motivate and push his client to be the very best they can be. This in turn shows in a healthier more productive lifestyle.
Dave Roberts specializes in coaching functional movements that provide real life adaptations. Beyond the basic squat, pull and pressing mechanics, he also has 7 years experience teaching Olympic Weightlifting and Gymnastics skills. Current certifications include Crossfit Level 1, Crossfit Olympic Weightlifting, Crossfit Powerlifting and Crossfit Gymnastics. A former D-1 soccer player, Dave has also competed several Crossfit competitions including qualification for the Central East Regionals in 2011. He graduated with a B.S. in economics from the University of Delaware and earned his Master’s in economics from Boston University.
David is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is also certified as a NASM Weight Loss Specialist. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland: Baltimore County, better known as UMBC.
Prior to VIDA, he was a student in a doctorate of physical therapy program. He believes that there is nothing that exercise can’t help or fix, and it all starts with the power of positivity. David believes that exercise should not only be challenging but also therapeutic as well. He has a specific focus and interest in correctional and rehabilitative training exercises so that clients can return back to doing what they love to do so they can live out their best life!
David Rice is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He has over 30 years experience with weight training, cardio fitness and recently adding yoga to round at his fitness regime. His training style encompasses all three of these elements with the goal of achieving weight loss, muscular strength and endurance. Sessions are planned out in advance and tailored to each individual’s goals and fitness level. To keep things fun and interesting every workout is different from the next with varying degrees of intensity. The workouts can be challenging but if you’re willing to put in the time in effort you will be pleased with the results. His motto is “A healthy body means a better quality of life”
Derrick Martin is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist. The personal experience of battling back from obesity and injury has birthed an insatiable curiosity about all things related to sports and nutrition- particularly in the areas of weight loss and injury prevention and recovery. Derrick also excels in training for muscle hypertrophy and strength gains, having trained elite high school football players. One of Derrick’s core principles is, a balanced body acting in concert with a balanced mind can achieve greatness. His training philosophy reflects this by taking a very thoughtful approach to training balancing intuition, common sense along with the latest training research.
Russian born and raised, Diana is a certified personal trainer with NCSF and former Tennis Pro with the WTA World Tour. She began playing tennis at the age of 3. After finishing her pro career she went on to coaching top juniors at Bollettieri Tennis Academy and then went on to become the Head Tennis Professional at Barry Buss Tennis Academy. Many of her juniors went on to get their pro card as well with the WTA and ATP. Her love for fitness and athletics carried over into personal training and she takes her role of helping clients achieve their goals very seriously. Her skills include, strength training, overcoming injuries, fat loss, and sports specific training. She enjoys helping all of her clients achieve their fitness and weight-loss goals with her individualized, tailored programs.
Donovan is a certified personal trainer with NESTA, with a specialization in Sports Nutrition and Physique Competition Prep. He helps clients achieve their weight loss goals while motivating them and encouraging them to have fun while doing it. His passion for health and fitness took off after he graduated and successfully completely a weight loss journey for himself, going from 270 pounds to 190 pounds. He realized he wanted to help people achieve their own personal fitness goals as he had achieved his own. He believes the benefits of a healthy mind and body are a key part in feeling happy in life. He believes that every day you need to make the conscious choice to get better than the day before.
Eddie is from San Jose, CA where he spent all his free time in athletic pursuits from organized sports to martial arts, surfing, and BMX trials training. He took up weightlifting as a teenager to get stronger and improve his performance in football and rugby. In college, his love of weight training turned into bodybuilding as his physique developed. His excitement about health and fitness, results in a contagious enthusiasm during every training session. Eddie is an athlete, trainer and vegan, and is passionate about healthy living. He believes a holistic approach to health is the only approach that will guarantee phenomenal and lifelong results.
Edward brings 11 years of professional experience and multiple certifications, including National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer, Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), USA Track and Field Certified Coach, Boxing Instructor, and Pre/Post Natal Training. A well-versed and highly skilled personal trainer, he believes that achieving any fitness goal must begin with focused energy. Elissa is a certified personal trainer with NASM. Her passion for health and fitness developed at an early age and has included activities such as competitive basketball and cross-country. She currently holds a BA from South Dakota State University and is working towards her MA at the Johns Hopkins University. Emilie is an American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer born in California and raised in Los Angeles as well as Lyon, France. Growing up in these areas lended to Emilie’s interest in sports and outdoorsy activities. Emilie graduated from The George Washington University in 2018 and her hobbies include cooking, reading, traveling, and hiking. A former swimmer and cross country athlete, Emilie became interested in resistance training, weight lifting, and HIIT programs after leaving organized sports behind after high school. In this fitness journey she has been able to discover a passion for helping others reach their goals through the principle of functional fitness. Her personal mission is to have others see their body in a positive way, to use fitness as a mechanism to allow our bodies serve our goals in life including everything from posture correction to competitive sport.
Enrique is an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer and a VIDA Master Trainer. He helps clients define their goals, then assesses their abilities to perform a range of exercises, and creates a pathway for his clients to realize their goals. He emphasizes the correct form, movements and techniques to reduce risk of injuries, avoid muscle imbalances, and to increase muscle strength and endurance. Enrique has over 3 years experience in personal training and group fitness instruction including all forms of conditioning, small group training and TRX. As an ACE – Orthopedic Exercise Specialist, he has the expertise to help those who report being affected by knee, hip, lower back or shoulder pain, as well as those hindered by muscle imbalances or musculoskeletal disorders, or simply want help restoring function following orthopedic rehabilitation. As an ACE Sports Conditioning Specialist, Enrique’s strength and conditioning workouts combine intensity and creativity to make the program effective and enjoyable; after all, he believes exercising is a recreational activity, and everyone should enjoy doing it. Eric is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Eric has been an athlete his whole life playing soccer and running track, but discovered his true passion for fitness after having to recover from a foot fracture. Eric understands the time and effort that goes into rebuilding your body after having to sit out from physical activity for 6 months. Once fully recovered, it was Eric’s mission to build his body to its full potential to prevent any future injures. Eric went from being an athlete with a runner’s build to a well- versed strength trainer, learning from other fitness professionals every chance he got. Eric thinks of the body as a blank canvas and believes that with effort and dedication, you can create the physique you never thought was possible for yourself. Eric focuses on high intensity strength training workouts paired with corrective flexibility training to build the body to its fully potential.
Erica is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, and joined the VIDA team in 2018. Health and fitness have always been central to her life, and she is always looking for new and improved techniques to both challenge herself and incorporate with her clients. She grew up playing various sports and dancing, and over time learned a variety of different training styles and how to blend them to reach her own personal goals. She now uses this knowledge to help her clients achieve their own fitness goals, while always maintaining a focus on correct form and fundamentals.

Everett Shipmon is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer and NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and focuses on functional core training and movement. He believes that a strong core is the key to feeling and moving smoothly. His energy, creativity and passion allows him to teach not only 1:1 clients but group and small groups. Everett has 10 years experience in the fitness industry and believes health and fitness are essential to enjoying life. His mantra is that consistency rewards well, and tells his clients, “You will feel better before you look better.”
Fernanda was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where she studied and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Law before moving to Washington, DC. Fernanda has always been athletic, participating in a variety of sports growing up, but ultimately fell in love with rock climbing. For her, climbing has had a great impact on her personal life and professional career, influencing her workouts and proving to her that with enough dedication, anyone is capable of a pull up.
Fernanda is a certified personal trainer with the NSCA, and holds certifications in Spinning, Pink Gloves Boxing, Pilates Reformer, RIP and TRX. Additionally, Fernanda received a Master’s degree in Sports Management from George Washington University, allowing her to develop strategic and innovative thinking around the business side of fitness, along with continuing to develop her knowledge and experience base. She believes in functional training and making sure that the body works properly before loading it with an intense training program. Gabriel is certified through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and holds a CrossFit Level 1 certificate.
Growing up he played soccer and slowly moved into long distance running and triathlons. His workouts later became more focused on lifting. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Gabriel moved to Cambodia where he spent 18 months coaching CrossFit and personal training. Living abroad was a great experience; he learned to coach in a country where very few people spoke English. Gabriel places a high importance on making training enjoyable, while prioritizing movements that lead to a better functioning body. He believes that a training plan has to be both enjoyable and results driven to be effective.
Gene believes that the cultivation of a strong, capable body is fundamental to a high quality of life. Greg is an ACE certified personal trainer with 10+ years of fitness and weight training experience. His fitness journey began in high school when he began going to his local gym after school with the goal of building muscle. Since then he has had a passion for lifting weights and sharing his knowledge with others in order to help them achieve a healthier and more positive lifestyle. Boxing since the age of 5, he has over 20 years of experience in the ring and training others in the sport. His ultimate goal is to become a unified boxing World Champion and leader in the industry. He is graduate of Bowie State University with a degree in Sports Management.

Ian is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has a background in visual and preforming art, and worked in graphic design and marketing before pursuing a career in fitness. Training is another creative endeavor in Ian’s life, and he strives to bring variety to his clients fitness routines tailored around their needs and goals. His personal fitness journey had humble beginnings, but his desire to push his body further and harder led to a quick progression in his skills and knowledge. Isaac Way is a certified personal trainer with the NSCA and NCCPT, a NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist, and an American Bicycling League Cycling Instructor. Isaac has a B.A. in International Studies and a graduate certificate in International Disaster and Emergency Management from Hawai’i Pacific University. Growing up with a mountain as his backyard and pursuing outdoor sports, Isaac believes in functional movement and exercises that enable you to not only become stronger, but also feel and move better. Overcoming and rehabilitating from a hindering amplified musculoskeletal pain syndrome, Isaac understands that pain comes in a variety of forms and for many different reasons, which are reducible and even resolvable with the proper application of exercise science. Isaac applies his expertise to meet clients where they are at, and he empowers them with individualized programs and an all-encompassing approach to exercise and fitness.
Jacqueline Starr has been working at Vida as a personal trainer since 2015, and as a reformer instructor since 2017. Jackie was educated through NASM for her personal training certification, and Balanced Body as a reformer instructor. Additionally, she has a certification in Biomechanics and Human Movement from DBC Fitness. Although running and swimming are her favorite ways to workout, Jackie always enjoyed working on the reformer. The desire to become certified and teach came out of her own experience with a back injury which put almost all activity on hold. Through the reformer she was able to remain active through most ranges of motion without pain, and learn about more acute strength and movement. Her classes are form focused, and aim to develop better awareness of proper muscle activation throughout an entire range of motion. She loves working to develop strength and stability for common daily activities, but especially enjoys working with those recovering from an injury, or with nagging aches and pains.
Jacqui has her BS from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Jesse Johnson joined VIDA as a Personal Trainer in December 2011. His experience in Isolation work allows his clients to train without injury and many clients see success quickly when working with Jesse. As a personal trainer at VIDA, Jesse’s goal is to provide a comprehensive approach to training so clients understand not only what they are doing, but how they can duplicate it again on their own. Countless clients use Jesse’s approach in their continued health and fitness, far beyond initial training with him. Jesse hopes to get each client to the “Best Physical Version” of themselves at VIDA.
Jordan holds certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and Functional Movement Screen Level 1 (FMS). He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where he played four years of Division I soccer. Jordan’s extensive knowledge comes from years of playing professional soccer, including stints with multiple Major League Soccer teams. In addition to personal training, Jordan also coaches DC area high school students. He specializes in high-intensity interval training and calisthenics.
Julian is a certified personal trainer through the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM). Julian was always involved with sports as a kid; over the years he has competed in basketball, soccer, swimming, volleyball, tennis, track, golf and ping pong. His training style typically focuses on bodyweight movements that build strength and power while keeping the body balanced and flexible. In his spare time, Julian likes to read, spend time outdoors and work in urban agriculture spaces.
Julie is a NASM certified personal trainer with additional certifications in speed/agility/quickness, women’s fitness specialist, pre/postnatal, and neuromuscular stretching. Justin earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Promotions from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he also played football. He’s currently finishing his Master’s of Science in Exercise Science, with emphasis in Sports Performance Training. Justin holds both NSCA-CSCS and FMS Level 2 certifications and has volunteered his time as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Wisconsin and Georgetown University. He moved from Wisconsin with his wife and joined VIDA in 2014 as a Personal Trainer prior to his promotion to Assistant General Manager. Justin believes in using scientifically proven methodology to help members reach their goals through prescribing individualized programming.
Katie is a certified personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise. She studied Business Marketing at the University of Mississippi where she found her passion for health and fitness. After years of struggling with being overweight and eating disorders, Katie believes in the personal strength that comes with a healthy lifestyle. Never willing to back down from a challenge, Katie found her passion for sports and fitness playing in an all boys’ basketball league when there wasn’t one for girls. From the basketball court to the yoga mat, fitness has played a constant yet evolving role in Katie’s life. Kelsey is from Milltown, New Jersey where she trained competitively in track and field and ballet dance. She took up weight training when she moved to DC and earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Personal Training Certification with NSCA. Kelsey takes her background in ballet to focus on form and background in track and field to incorporate HIIT into each session. She provides an educational and fun environment for her private clients as well as partner training and even small groups. Kelsey finds joy in seeing the progress her clients make and the happiness it brings them.

While training as a track and field hurdler and majoring in exercise physiology at the University of Michigan, Keri’s love for developing the inner athlete was born. After winning several Big Ten Conference honors, she went on to become a decorated track coach, sending several athletes to college on scholarship. However, her passion lied not only in developing the elite athlete, but in introducing novice athletes to their physical limits and pushing them to become their best selves mentally, emotionally, and athletically. She now carries that passion into her personal training style, where she combines her education and athletic experience into a program that incorporates injury prevention, conditioning, speed/agility, strength, and functional high intensity training. Kiara considers her training to be a hybrid of resistance, plyometrics, cardio, bodyweight, and/or power lifting. Kyle is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer, BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, and National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT) Certified Flexibility Specialist. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from University of Delaware. His fitness journey began with years of athletics including soccer, swim team, football, and lacrosse. When Kyle isn’t it the gym, you can find him at a social dance several nights a week Lindy Hopping, DJing, or teaching. Lisa joined the Vida team in 2010 with 4 year of previous personal training experience. Lisa is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and hold a corrective exercise specialization through them as well as an undergraduate degree in Health Science from Marymount University and a masters degree in Forensic Science from the UK. She is certified in TRX, Kinesiology taping, FMS (Functional Movement Screen), Real Ryder and MadDogg. You can find her on the fitness floor or in the spinning studio or TRX studio teaching a class. She is originally from Sweden so if you ever hear a Swedish song in her class, or she references a saying that does not make any sense that is why.
Lisa struggled with her weight while she was younger and got into teaching classes first but it was not until she combined correct weight lifting and spinning, along with healthy eating that she started seeing results. She loves making people laugh and feel good about themselves while having fun. When Lisa is not in the gym she is either seeing friends or family, traveling, selling houses or doing something outdoorsy.
Luciane Guilmard has worked at VIDA since January of 2009. Originally from Brazil, she earned her Bachelor’s in Physical Education from the University of South Fatima. She has been working since 1993 in physical education and personal training, both in the U.S. and in Brazil. Luciane became a Les Mills certified RPM and Body Balance instructor in 2002, but her teaching repertoire includes strength training, conditioning, cycling, yoga, aqua-aerobics, pre and post-pregnancy, stretching, and TRX suspension training. She continuously strives to stay current with, and incorporate the newest trends and innovations in fitness.
She is extremely knowledgeable about different body types; whatever your ambitions, fitness level, or age, she will customize a workout to meet your personal goals. She adjusts the training to the needs and desires of each person, from intense to low impact. As someone who loves to push herself to the limit, Luciane knows firsthand what it takes to train to the lifestyle of her dreams. Although she holds a BA in Accounting, Marinda is extremely passionate about health and fitness, rooted in her love of movement and empowering others to transform their lives and mindset through exercise. Marinda enjoys strength training and circuit training, and utilizes exercise methods that promote stability, mobility, and better performance. Marinda’s training style is also powered by her desire to increase the overall well-being of her clients. He has trained and variety of age groups from children as young as 10, teenagers to seniors over 75. He specializes in strength training, cardio conditioning, flexibility, and weight management. Mike Jones is a results-oriented Personal Trainer who focuses on his clients’ quality of life. He fully embraces a whole-hearted approach to your general well-bing that includes innovative exercise, specific nutritional guidelines, and proper sleep habits.

In addition, Morgan possesses rehabilitation knowledge due to her experience working in a physical therapy setting and is fascinated by human anatomy and physiology. Naami is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, NASM. Naami originally realized her passion for fitness in high school through involvement in various team sports. Since then, her fitness journey has been less traditional; she decided to run away and join the circus after her first year of college. Naami trained and performed for two years in Seattle, then one year at the New England Center for Circus Arts before returning to her undergraduate education. She competed her degree in Exercise Science from GWU in 2018 while continuing to train and perform circus arts, and she is now pursuing a Masters of Public Health with a Physical Activity concentration.

Nick is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has over 6 years of weight training experience with 10+ years as an athlete in swimming. Nick is currently focused on the sport of bodybuilding and powerlifting in order to put the mass on required to be successful. He enjoys creating posing routines that demonstrate proper mind to muscle connections that create a flow of movement. Nick enjoys working with athletes at all levels whether it be a beginner or a full-time collegiate athlete. His main goal is to achieve client fitness goals with the emphasis on bettering form to increase longevity of the muscles and joints while keeping the workouts engaging and intense.
Nick specializes in creating highly individual and responsive training that will not only suite the goals of clients, but their preferences as well. With a background in combat sports and Olympic weightlifting, he is a firm believer in ensuring clients get results through an easy-to-understand process. Nick believes that individual progress is the key to fitness, encouraging clients to make small improvements every day. Nick specializes is training for sports, resistance & metabolic conditioning, and developing all three aspects of strength: physical, mental, and emotional. Nick is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA, has a BS in Kinesiology from UMD, and is an official USA Powerlifting Club Coach.
Nicole’s goal as a personal trainer is to help her clients enjoy exercise and its positive effects on their everyday lives. She is a native Washingtonian with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from St. John’s University and is currently a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She likes to incorporate flexibility, balance, HIIT and plyometric exercises to help alleviate some of the pressures living and working in a busy city like DC can present. She believes that the exercise experience should always feel like an accomplishment and that every person is an athlete
Patrick is a pre-med student at The George Washington University majoring in Exercise and Nutritional Sciences and minoring in Biological Sciences. He holds an ISSA Personal Training Certification and has a deep passion for helping others achieve their goals. Patrick was a competitive athlete in his youth but is now an avid weightlifter who incorporates both strength training and hypertrophy into his routines. He believes that health, fitness, and proper nutrition are the main pillars to a happy life and that anyone can achieve their goals no matter where they start out. He takes great pride in his ability to facilitate intrinsic motivation to create a desire to forge a lifelong relationship with health and fitness that will bring happiness in all areas of life.
Paul was born and raised in DC and earned a degree in English Literature from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He has participated in a wide variety of sports and fitness pursuits including soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, obstacle course races, mountain biking and ultimate frisbee. Having a diverse athletic background has helped him understand how our bodies function and respond to different challenges. He eventually ditched his desk job to pursue his dream career as a Personal Trainer and has never looked back. Paul believes in building strength from the ground up, focusing on good mechanics while helping his clients toward their goal, whether it be weight-loss, strength, athletic performance or pain free movement. He believes people are more likely to stay active if fitness is something they incorporate into their lives instead of another check mark on a to-do list. By keeping it fun and results-driven he hopes to restore that balance and improve the overall quality of his clients’ lives.
Paula graduated from college in 2010 with a degree in Sports Science and an emphasis in Health. Since then, she has worked with diverse populations in therapeutic settings as well as fitness and sports. Her experience ranges from individuals with special health conditions and disorders to performance athletes of all ages. Paula holds certifications in Personal Training, Strength and Conditioning Coaching and Inclusive Fitness Training, as well as qualifications for TRX Suspension Training and TRX Functional Training.

Phaon is a DC local who is coming up on his third year at VIDA Verizon. He is certified through the American Council on Exercise and received his bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Elon University. Phaon played rugby at the collegiate level and his background in athletics have lead him to specialize in strength training for athletic performance and weight loss.

Rafael is a certified personal trainer with NASM. He is also certified in TRX suspension training and teaches Mixed Martial Arts. He has 25 years of experience playing soccer, is a Tae Kwon Do black belt and, is a Relson Gracie Jiu Jitsu brown belt. Having played and competed in many sports his whole life, Rafael knows and understands the hard work and dedication a person must have to achieve a fitness goal. Having trained professional fighters, Rafael uses his experience and implements the same kind of philosophy to his clients. Whether it’s losing weight, gaining strength, building muscle or cardiovascular endurance, hard work and commitment are a must. His style of training is very challenging, but effective. His workouts are a mix of cardio, weights, plyometrics, circuit training, kickboxing and grappling. He is known to push his students and clients beyond limits they never thought they could ever achieve.
Raffi is a certified personal trainer with NASM and a certified Fitness Instructor with AFAA! He earned his B.A degree in Media and Communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. However, his passion for fitness began after his long struggle with obesity. Raffi uses his weight-loss as the blueprint of every class or session he leads. He believes exercise has the power to improve a person’s self-confidence, potential, and attitude. He challenges his clients to not only strive for more during every workout, but to also believe in their own ability and potential. He credits attitude as the pivotal factor to a successful weight loss journey. He understands that everyone’s body needs to be worked differently to change and improve, so he gears his session to be fun, dynamic, and a learning experience for all his clients.
Growing up, Raul has always had an interest in the health and fitness field; Graduating with Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Fitness and Recreation, with a concentration in Sports Management at George Mason University. He has over 7 years experience training all types of clientele and is an excellent motivator. Certified by the National Council of Sport and Fitness (NCSF) and NASM as Corrective Exercise Specialist he’s able to give push his clients in a variety of way to hit their goals. In his free time, Raul enjoys watching and participating in sports, listening and dancing Latin music, and spending time with friends and family.
Regina is a certified personal trainer with ACE, a holistic health coach and a licensed pharmacist. She has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Howard University in Washington, DC. From a young age, Regina enjoyed working out yet never considered a career as a personal trainer until she became a retail pharmacist. As a pharmacist, she encountered several patients who suffered from lifestyle diseases that could be resolved through diet and exercise and wanted to help them eliminate their dependence on medications. She decided to walk away from pharmacy and venture into personal training and is determined to not only make her clients look better but also improve their health outcomes. Through a variety of strength, conditioning, and cardiovascular exercises, she believes in keeping workouts fun yet challenging to help clients stay motivated and seeing results.
Reno has a wide range of training styles; he specializes in strength training, high-intensity interval training, and body sculpting. He trains clients of all fitness levels including high school and college athletes, U.S. Marines, bodybuilders, and even clients with cerebral palsy. Reno’s certifications include Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and TRX. He is also an NPC and OCB Male physique winner. Reno loves to provide smiles, encouragement, motivation and strength to help clients reach their fitness goals. He believes with patience and persistence anyone can achieve their goals.
Ryan is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with over 4 years of experience with everyone from Division 1 athletes to men and women in their 70s and 80s just trying to be strong and healthy in the sport of life. Ryan has a background in high school wrestling, karate tournament competition as a youth, and currently holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has also competed in the sport of powerlifting. He is in his last year at George Mason University pursuing a B.A. in Visual and Performing Art. Ryan believes in the transformative power of strength training. He has successfully applied the principles of it to clients who are losing weight, recovering from injuries, and looking to improve athletic performance. He never gets tired of seeing how much fitness and strength can affect the lives of his clients.
Samantha is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is currently working towards a BS in Kinesiology at George Mason University. Sam also holds several specialty certifications including USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, NASM neuromuscular stretching and positional isometrics, and is currently working on her NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist certification. She hopes to eventually pursue a career in physical therapy. In her free time, Sam trains as a competitive Olympic weightlifter.
Sam has worked with clients of all ability levels, from high school athletes to senior citizens. She uses her knowledge of functional exercise and strength training to help her clients reach their fitness goals. Sara joined our Vida team in 2018 when she moved to DC from Connecticut. She is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, and with a background in bodybuilding and running she’s constantly active. Sara currently has her pro card in bodybuilding with the WBFF and placed 4th in her last Pro show. Working with people and accomplishing their fitness goals is a passion of hers.
Sara has 5 half marathons and countless 5k, 5 mile and 10k road races under her belt. Racing for her expanded to obstacle runs including Spartan Race (sprint, super and beast), Warrior Dash and Rugged Maniac. She loves doing something that will challenge her to be better, to race faster and to improve overall health.
Sarah discovered her passion for health and fitness at a young age through sport and exercise. In her free time she trains and competes as an Olympic Weightlifter. She is also an avid snowboarder and has been instructing others for almost a decade. What she enjoys most is sharing her passions with others by coaching and teaching them, which is what led her to personal training. Sarah earned her BS in Kinesiology from Penn State and emphasizes a science-based approach to strength training and conditioning. She is currently working towards becoming a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA to provide performance training for sport and resistance exercise. Sarah focuses on creating individualized programs, incorporating compound movements to develop functional and overall strength for a healthy life.
Sean is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). He has learned through mentorship and self-practice that correct muscle contraction is the key to building hypertrophy and strength. He transformed his own body in four years and gained 25 pounds of muscle mass with discipline, patience, and dedication. Prior to finding his love of weightlifting, he spent every day for four years training Muay Thai and credits this practice to developing the cross-body patterns responsible for speed, power, and athletic performance. Sean was the captain of his high school wrestling team and went undefeated for two years. Wrestling taught him how powerful the mind is when it comes to competing and reaching his personal goals.
