For two years, Alexandra Chili was an international hoop queen/pro-baller in Europe and she channels that athletic spirit to this day. Her basketball experience taught her the importance of dedication and practice to progress to new heights. Alie is a certified personal trainer with NASM and has a passion for the transformative power of fitness. While she has her degree in International Studies from Dickinson College, she has been learning about and spreading the joy of exercise to those around her for years. Her interest began when she decided to sign up for the Tough Mudder. She soon got into powerlifting and HIIT-style workouts. Throughout college, she encouraged her friends to step outside of their comfort zone and showed them the ropes in the weight room. Their results – both mentally and physically – inspired her. She is a huge proponent of the holistic effects of exercise and believes that working out strengthens not just the body, but also the mind. She approaches training with intention, truly listening and helping each individual reach his or her goals.

He is dedicated to a healthy lifestyle, and strongly believes that focusing on both nutrition and exercise is the key to success. Catherine joined the VIDA team in 2013. After three years of training at VIDA Verizon, she recently took on the role of Personal Training Manager at VIDA Metropole. Catherine holds a bachelors degree in Health Science from Boston University. During her time at BU, she spent two years as an athletic training student, working with various athletic teams at BU and MIT. Following graduation, she worked for a non-profit in DC dealing with issues related to health policy and then for a science and technology communications firm in Rockville. Catherine holds a certification from the American Council on Exercise. An avid golfer, she is a Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Professional and is currently working with several clients to improve their golf swing. Catherine has competed in several local weightlifting competitions, and is a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach. She teaches TRX, VIDA Barre, and plans to begin teaching pilates reformer in 2017.

Charles comes from a medical family and has been involved in athletics all his life. This gave him the platform to launch his fitness career. He attended Indiana University where he attained a B.S. in Kinesiology. Charles’ fitness philosophy is one that is centered around a sound physiological approach. This means making sure that the body is always in a position to build, and burn, and at the appropriate times (good form, good posture, balancing the muscle groups worked, etc.). Charles does this while following what’s called the functional progression, which is a building block approach that can be applied to any and all exercises and movement patterns.

Christine is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer, and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (200 hour). Christine earned her BA in political science and art history from Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). She has always loved sports and fitness, having played almost every sport you can think of, from softball to basketball to golf. She has run five marathons and is training for her first triathlon. Upon moving to DC, she worked on Capitol Hill, all the while pursuing her yoga teacher training certification, her personal training certification, and her certificate in holistic health coaching. After nearly 8 years, she transitioned to a full-time fitness career and joined the Vida team.

Christine believes that fitness should be fun, and that health and fitness is an integral part of a happy life. She focuses on conditioning, weight loss/maintenance, and building long, lean muscle. She will work with you to create a safe environment, where you feel free to communicate your needs. She’ll push you to your edge, but keep it friendly, fun, and safe. She also teaches several yoga classes at Vida, including power yoga, vinyasa, and restorative/gentle yoga.

Russian born and raised, Diana is a certified personal trainer with NCSF and former Tennis Pro with the WTA World Tour. She began playing tennis at the age of 3. After finishing her pro career she went on to coaching top juniors at Bollettieri Tennis Academy and then went on to become the Head Tennis Professional at Barry Buss Tennis Academy. Many of her juniors went on to get their pro card as well with the WTA and ATP. Her love for fitness and athletics carried over into personal training and she takes her role of helping clients achieve their goals very seriously. Her passion for health and fitness began from her love of sports. Competing in gymnastics at a young age taught her discipline, independence, and the need for a strong core. You might see her walking around the gym on her hands. Over time she transitioned to soccer and was able to play at a high competitive club level and on her high school and college teams. Unfortunately, her college soccer career was cut short when she injured her knee. For the first time in her life she had to overcome a life without sports and the resulting weight gain. With time she is now back to being a fitness enthusiast. Her own struggles have helped her understand and deal with her clients’ own circumstances and life obstacles.

Training sessions are constantly varied with a fun and disciplined atmosphere all while making it an educational process. Her programs always include core work and a variety of exercises, with a focus on high intensity interval training, better know as HIIT training. HIIT sessions vary client to client because everyone has different goals and body types. Enrique is an American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Trainer and a VIDA Master Trainer. He emphasizes the correct form, movements and techniques to reduce risk of injuries, avoid muscle imbalances, and to increase muscle strength and endurance. Enrique has over 3 years experience in personal training and group fitness instruction including all forms of conditioning, small group training and TRX. As an ACE – Orthopedic Exercise Specialist, he has the expertise to help those who report being affected by knee, hip, lower back or shoulder pain, as well as those hindered by muscle imbalances or musculoskeletal disorders, or simply want help restoring function following orthopedic rehabilitation. Eric has been an athlete his whole life playing soccer and running track, but discovered his true passion for fitness after having to recover from a foot fracture. Eric understands the time and effort that goes into rebuilding your body after having to sit out from physical activity for 6 months. Once fully recovered, it was Eric’s mission to build his body to its full potential to prevent any future injures. Eric went from being an athlete with a runner’s build to a well- versed strength trainer, learning from other fitness professionals every chance he got. Eric thinks of the body as a blank canvas and believes that with effort and dedication, you can create the physique you never thought was possible for yourself. Fernanda was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where she studied and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Law before moving to Washington, DC. Fernanda has always been athletic, participating in a variety of sports growing up, but ultimately fell in love with rock climbing. For her, climbing has had a great impact on her personal life and professional career, influencing her workouts and proving to her that with enough dedication, anyone is capable of a pull up.

Fernanda is a certified personal trainer with the NSCA, and holds certifications in Spinning, Pink Gloves Boxing, Pilates Reformer, RIP and TRX. Additionally, Fernanda received a Master’s degree in Sports Management from George Washington University, allowing her to develop strategic and innovative thinking around the business side of fitness, along with continuing to develop her knowledge and experience base. She believes in functional training and making sure that the body works properly before loading it with an intense training program. While Fernanda believes mobility is important, she believes that diversity and variety are the spice of life (and training!), and incorporates a diverse range of exercises in her daily sessions. You can expect to see Kettle Bells, rowing, handstands, plyometrics and more in her training and her clients’ training!

Gabriel is certified through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and holds a CrossFit Level 1 certificate.
Growing up he played soccer and slowly moved into long distance running and triathlons. His workouts later became more focused on lifting. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Gabriel moved to Cambodia where he spent 18 months coaching CrossFit and personal training. Living abroad was a great experience; he learned to coach in a country where very few people spoke English. Gabriel places a high importance on making training enjoyable, while prioritizing movements that lead to a better functioning body. He believes that a training plan has to be both enjoyable and results driven to be effective.

Greg is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. This experience provided Greg with an exceptional education in the Anatomy and Physiology fields. Working in hands on case studies and laboratory assessments he developed a strong understanding of the mechanics of body movement.

Greg’s passion for fitness and strong desire for helping others is readily observed in his work ethic. His volunteer work with the Howard County Public School System was highly rewarding as he was able to work with children with numerous neuromuscular disabilities. Greg has also applied his educational training to the work place as a Physical Therapy Aide at Pivot Physical Therapy.

Isiah has worked in the fitness industry for the past eight years. Isiah was a collegiate soccer player who played four years of soccer on scholarship. Isiah has worked with professional soccer players on and off the field to help them increase their: strength, power and endurance. Most recently Isiah has spent the last four years working with VIDA Fitness. The majority of this time has been spent as a Personal Training Manager. Isiah holds multiple training certifications and spends a lot of his time working on correcting asymmetries to allow the body to move through more fluid movement patterns. Isiah believes that you have to build the body up one brick at a time. If there are cracked “bricks” (poor movement patterns) Isiah will take them out and work to replace them for a better “brick”. Isiah will train you and your body for the game of life. We are training to age well and to be able to move in any manner that we choose at any age that we choose. Isiah puts a large focus on core strength and body posture both in and out of each session. Isiah will help you move better both in the short-term and the long-term.

Jacqueline Starr has been working at Vida as a personal trainer since 2015, and as a reformer instructor since 2017. Jackie was educated through NASM for her personal training certification, and Balanced Body as a reformer instructor. Additionally, she has a certification in Biomechanics and Human Movement from DBC Fitness. Although running and swimming are her favorite ways to workout, Jackie always enjoyed working on the reformer. The desire to become certified and teach came out of her own experience with a back injury which put almost all activity on hold. Through the reformer she was able to remain active through most ranges of motion without pain, and learn about more acute strength and movement. Her classes are form focused, and aim to develop better awareness of proper muscle activation throughout an entire range of motion. She loves working to develop strength and stability for common daily activities, but especially enjoys working with those recovering from an injury, or with nagging aches and pains.

Steve grew up as an athlete and an avid outdoorsman. As an Eagle Scout, Steve spent years cultivating camaraderie, confidence, and competency in others in many technical survival skills and a host of outdoor activities, such as hiking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and sailing – to name a few. Looking into his athletic background, Steve is a former football player, track and field athlete, and swim team coach, which serve as a complement to the decade he spent as a competitive archer, martial artist, and student of Zazen meditation. Recently, Steve has undertaken study of therapeutic soft tissue manipulation and the movement meditation that is Qi Gong.

Steve received a B.S. in Exercise Science from the George Washington University, and is certified as a personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. During her time at BU, she spent two years as an athletic training student, working with various athletic teams at BU and MIT. Following graduation, she worked for a non-profit in DC dealing with issues related to health policy and then for a science and technology communications firm in Rockville. Christine earned her BA in political science and art history from Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). She has always loved sports and fitness, having played almost every sport you can think of, from softball to basketball to golf. She has run five marathons and is training for her first triathlon. Upon moving to DC, she worked on Capitol Hill, all the while pursuing her yoga teacher training certification, her personal training certification, and her certificate in holistic health coaching. After nearly 8 years, she transitioned to a full-time fitness career and joined the Vida team.

Many of her juniors went on to get their pro card as well with the WTA and ATP. Her love for fitness and athletics carried over into personal training and she takes her role of helping clients achieve their goals very seriously. Her passion for health and fitness began from her love of sports. Competing in gymnastics at a young age taught her discipline, independence, and the need for a strong core. You might see her walking around the gym on her hands. Over time she transitioned to soccer and was able to play at a high competitive club level and on her high school and college teams. Unfortunately, her college soccer career was cut short when she injured her knee. For the first time in her life she had to overcome a life without sports and the resulting weight gain. With time she is now back to being a fitness enthusiast. Her own struggles have helped her understand and deal with her clients’ own circumstances and life obstacles.

Training sessions are constantly varied with a fun and disciplined atmosphere all while making it an educational process. Her programs always include core work and a variety of exercises, with a focus on high intensity interval training, better know as HIIT training. HIIT sessions vary client to client because everyone has different goals and body types. Isiah has worked in the fitness industry for the past eight years. Isiah was a collegiate soccer player who played four years of soccer on scholarship. Isiah has worked with professional soccer players on and off the field to help them increase their: strength, power and endurance. Most recently Isiah has spent the last four years working with VIDA Fitness. The majority of this time has been spent as a Personal Training Manager. Isiah holds multiple training certifications and spends a lot of his time working on correcting asymmetries to allow the body to move through more fluid movement patterns. Isiah believes that you have to build the body up one brick at a time. If there are cracked “bricks” (poor movement patterns) Isiah will take them out and work to replace them for a better “brick”. Isiah will train you and your body for the game of life. We are training to age well and to be able to move in any manner that we choose at any age that we choose. Isiah puts a large focus on core strength and body posture both in and out of each session. Isiah will help you move better both in the short-term and the long-term.

Jacqueline Starr has been working at Vida as a personal trainer since 2015, and as a reformer instructor since 2017. Jackie was educated through NASM for her personal training certification, and Balanced Body as a reformer instructor. Additionally, she has a certification in Biomechanics and Human Movement from DBC Fitness. Although running and swimming are her favorite ways to workout, Jackie always enjoyed working on the reformer. The desire to become certified and teach came out of her own experience with a back injury which put almost all activity on hold. Through the reformer she was able to remain active through most ranges of motion without pain, and learn about more acute strength and movement. Her classes are form focused, and aim to develop better awareness of proper muscle activation throughout an entire range of motion. She loves working to develop strength and stability for common daily activities, but especially enjoys working with those recovering from an injury, or with nagging aches and pains.

As an accredited ACSM personal trainer for the past 3 years and a popular group fitness instructor at VIDA, he constantly evolves his training style and skills—which already includes boot camp, high intensity interval training, hypertrophy, bodyweight training, animal flow, kettlebell, and TRX—and aims them to help individual their goals whether it be weight loss, body sculpture, and strength training. As a former collegiate athlete (football) Kadeem has dealt with numerous injuries over the years, most notably an ACL tear and total knee reconstruction. Kiara believes fitness is a therapeutic method to mental and physical awareness. Her method of training requires more than just physically being present but also mental strength to push through her challenging workouts. Kiara considers her training to be a hybrid of resistance, plyometrics, cardio, bodyweight, and/or power lifting. Lisa joined the Vida team in 2010 with 4 year of previous personal training experience. Lisa is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and hold a corrective exercise specialization through them as well as an undergraduate degree in Health Science from Marymount University and a masters degree in Forensic Science from the UK. She is certified in TRX, Kinesiology taping, FMS (Functional Movement Screen), Real Ryder and MadDogg. You can find her on the fitness floor or in the spinning studio or TRX studio teaching a class. She is originally from Sweden so if you ever hear a Swedish song in her class, or she references a saying that does not make any sense that is why.

Lisa struggled with her weight while she was younger and got into teaching classes first but it was not until she combined correct weight lifting and spinning, along with healthy eating that she started seeing results. She loves making people laugh and feel good about themselves while having fun. When Lisa is not in the gym she is either seeing friends or family, traveling, selling houses or doing something outdoorsy.

Luciane Guilmard has worked at VIDA since January of 2009. Originally from Brazil, she earned her Bachelor’s in Physical Education from the University of South Fatima. She has been working since 1993 in physical education and personal training, both in the U.S. and in Brazil. Luciane became a Les Mills certified RPM and Body Balance instructor in 2002, but her teaching repertoire includes strength training, conditioning, cycling, yoga, aqua-aerobics, pre and post-pregnancy, stretching, and TRX suspension training. She continuously strives to stay current with, and incorporate the newest trends and innovations in fitness.

She is extremely knowledgeable about different body types; whatever your ambitions, fitness level, or age, she will customize a workout to meet your personal goals. She adjusts the training to the needs and desires of each person, from intense to low impact. As someone who loves to push herself to the limit, Luciane knows firsthand what it takes to train to the lifestyle of her dreams. Sam’s biggest accomplishment is that after winning various titles and belts in North America, He trained, vigorously for months and fought in the WKA world kickboxing tournament, winning a Bronze metal out of 300 fighters and 58 countries.

She is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, and with a background in bodybuilding and running she’s constantly active. Sara currently has her pro card in bodybuilding with the WBFF and placed 4th in her last Pro show. Working with people and accomplishing their fitness goals is a passion of hers.

Sara has 5 half marathons and countless 5k, 5 mile and 10k road races under her belt. Racing for her expanded to obstacle runs including Spartan Race (sprint, super and beast), Warrior Dash and Rugged Maniac. She loves doing something that will challenge her to be better, to race faster and to improve overall health.

Looking into his athletic background, Steve is a former football player, track and field athlete, and swim team coach, which serve as a complement to the decade he spent as a competitive archer, martial artist, and student of Zazen meditation. Recently, Steve has undertaken study of therapeutic soft tissue manipulation and the movement meditation that is Qi Gong.

Steve received a B.S. in Exercise Science from the George Washington University, and is certified as a personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He holds several other certifications relating to posture optimization, injury prevention, and orthopaedic exercise, as well as being a certified Pink Gloves Boxing instructor and Emergency Medical Technician. Drawing from his versatile background, Steve adapts his training to best fit the individual needs of each of his clients along their fitness journey – often incorporating high intensity interval training (HIIT), advanced bodyweight movements, and injury prevention techniques. A collegiate athlete, Susie competed on the Track & Field team at Cedarville where she nationally qualified in Pole vault and sprint relays. In high school, she competed in soccer, swimming, diving, and track & field. In her recreational time outside of the gym, she enjoys biking, rock climbing, hiking and aerial arts including silks and trapeze.

Basketball has played a big part in Tavares’ life. Having 18 years of experience playing basketball; Boys & Girls Club, AAU, 4 years in high school, and Collegiately at the Division 2 level. A natural born competitor, Tavares loves to motivate and push his clients to new levels by instilling the importance of proper form, knowledge, self-discipline, and confidence. Tavares believes that all things are possible through perseverance and dedication. He has trained people of all ages ranging from 12 years old to 65+ with different goals and athletic backgrounds. Tavares uses his experience and knowledge to create a fun, challenging, and rigorous training environment. No matter what your goals are, building core strength, building muscle, improving cardiovascular endurance, decreasing body fat or working on your agility/plyometrics, consistency is a major key.

Terrence Oakley is a NASM certified personal trainer. He specializes in functional fitness, power, speed, and endurance. He is an ex helicopter pilot who grew a passion for helping people become the best version of themselves. Through making a powerful transformation of his own, he learned how to overhaul his mind and body to be able to overcome any obstacle. His passion lies in helping other people do the same thing, both inside and outside of the gym. He has a Crossfit background, as well as experience in competing in ironman events. He was a lifeguard in Bethany beach for 7 years, and has experience training people for open water swims.
