Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month
At VIDA Fitness, we’re thrilled to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th. This period provides a unique opportunity to recognize and honor the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latin communities that have deeply influenced our society.
Embracing Culture Through Fitness
At VIDA, we believe wellness extends beyond physical health. We’re dedicated to embracing diversity, and this month, we’re proud to celebrate the profound impact Hispanic and Latin cultures have on fitness, wellness, and our community. Join us in honoring Hispanic and Latin influences through our special classes this month. We’re offering themed group fitness classes inspired by Hispanic and Latin cultures. These classes are fun and energizing, from dance workouts to rhythm-infused sessions. Check the VIDA app for the full schedule.
Join the Celebration
This upcoming Hispanic Heritage Month, there are many different things we can do to further our education on and celebration of this community.
- Visit a museum about Hispanic culture. Our home of Washington, DC, has the great resources of the Smithsonian Latino Center to learn from.
- Immerse yourself in the signs, sounds, and flavors of Latin America at Fiesta DC, the nation’s largest Latino festival, this September.
- Engage with local Hispanic and Latin organizations and nonprofits. Volunteering can help support their mission and broaden a deeper understanding of the culture.
- Try new recipes to explore the diverse cuisines of the Hispanic community. Food is a great gateway to understanding and appreciating a culture. See what’s in your area with this list of Latin-X-owned restaurants to support.
- Participate in educational programs focusing on the history, contributions, and issues facing the AAPI community. The Library of Congress has a growing schedule of events, both in-person and virtual, that anyone can enjoy.
- Learn one of the traditional dances of the Hispanic community – the mambo, rumba, bachata, cha-cha, or flamenco.
- Watch a documentary about Hispanic or Latin culture or watch a movie with lead representation.
- If you can, donate in support of a Hispanic or Latin charity or volunteer at a local organization. Not sure where to start? VIDA is selling limited edition Hispanic Heritage Month t-shirts at the Gear Shop. We’re donating $5 from every shirt sold to SAMU First Response.
