Cleaning Protocol

Safety is our biggest priority. We have been working hard during our closure to find the most effective products available and create a plan to keep the club safe and clean while you workout. We are proud to share that we are staying committed to our environmentally safe standards while bringing the best virus-killing cleaning products to VIDA Fitness, Bang Salon, Aura Spa, SweatBox, and The Penthouse Pool Club and Lounge.

Every employee is getting trained on the cleaning protocol and tasked with helping us make re-opening safe and healthy. We will need the support and participation of our members to make this protocol successful.

CLEANING PROTOCOL

Powerful Cleaning, Sanitizing, and Disinfectant

After in-depth research, we selected a sanitization and cleaning product called Tersano and the patented Stabilized Aqueous Ozone (SAO) system with an Electrostatic Sprayer that makes disinfecting more effective.

Tersano kills germs in 30 seconds to 1 minute. This means we can keep the gym open while we continuously clean throughout the day. We will be able to quickly sanitize the group fitness studios in between classes.

How We’ve Prepared

We’ve designed plans for how we will clean & sanitize each department of VIDA Fitness, Aura Spa, Bang Salon, SweatBox, and the Penthouse Pool Club and Lounge. Amenities, scheduling, and processes have been designed to offer members, clients, and staff the safest environment possible. We appreciate your help and support – we are in this together! Please review our updated Mask Policy.

ENTRANCE

Entrance

Cleaning Protocol:

The front desk team will sanitize the entrance door handles, desk, seating areas, phone, computers screen, keyboard, and credit card machine after each touch.

Process:

  • You will be asked to take your temperature with a No Touch thermometer.
  • We will not be using the fingerprint scanners. The front desk team will scan members in with the barcode on the VIDA app. (Instructions for downloading and using the VIDA app are here.)
  • You will be given a microfiber cleaning towel and a sweat towel and spray bottle when you arrive. Towels will not be offered throughout the club. You will be asked to return towels to the front desk when you leave.
  • You will be asked to wear a mask when you enter the club, as you walk around the club, when you are in the locker room, in Aura spa, and Bang Salon. Masks are encouraged at all other times. Please see our updated Mask Policy for more information.
  • During this time, no guest passes will be allowed.

FITNESS STUDIOS

Studios

Cleaning Protocol:

The fitness studios will be vacuumed, mopped, and disinfected with Tersano solution before, in between, and after classes. We will be using UV light technology to disinfect our yoga mats after each use with a system called Matsana. In order to increase social distancing and allow for deeper sanitization, the management and cleaning team will set up workout equipment for use at designated stations in each studio. The class schedule will accommodate additional cleaning and transition time in between classes.

Process:

  • You will be asked to make a class reservation prior to arrival, including selecting your space in the studio. (VIDA app instructions are here.)
  • You will be given a microfiber towel and spray bottle at the front desk. This should be used for cleaning additional equipment used before and after class.
  • You will be required to wear a mask at all times. More info on the Mask Policy is available here
  • You will not be able to workout in the studios when a class is not in session. This space will be designated for personal training and sanitization in between scheduled programming.

LOCKER ROOMS

Locker Rooms

Cleaning Protocol:

In our DC locations, locker rooms are only available for bathroom use as outlined in the Phase 2 requirements. Limited lockers are available outside the locker room. Our Ballston location allows for showers and socially distanced locker usage.

Lockers, toilets, urinals, sink tables, faucets, soap dispensers, mirrors, and towel paper dispensers will be disinfected with the Tersano disinfectant solution every 20 minutes. The floors will be vacuumed, swept, and mopped 3 times per day. Tanning machines and hydro massage beds will be disinfected every 30 minutes with Tersano solution. Showers, the steam room, and the sauna will not be available.

Process:

  • Lockers will not be available in our DC locations
  • You will be asked to wash your hands upon arrival and before you leave. We have also added more hand sanitizer stations around the club.
  • Masks must be worn at all times in the locker room.

FREE WEIGHT, CARDIO, & MACHINES

Fitness Equipment and Cardio

Cleaning Protocol:

Our cleaning team will be on the floor disinfecting high touch areas around the clock. We will provide every member with their own microfiber towel to clean equipment after each use. In addition, our staff will be wiping down equipment, cleaning mirrors, windows, screens, handles, seats, stair rails with Tersano.

Process:

  • In order to increase social distancing, cardio equipment and machines will be 10 feet apart. Some equipment will not be available. We will rotate equipment daily, so that you have access to everything throughout the week. This rotation will give us a better opportunity to clean and sanitize the equipment.
  • Every visit to the club must be booked in advance, including workouts on the weight room and cardio floors. (Instructions for downloading and using the VIDA app are here.)
  • You will not be able to workout in the studios when a class is not in session. This space will be designated to personal training and cleaning only.
  • Please wipe down every piece of equipment before and after use with your microfiber cleaning towel and spray bottles found around the club.
  • Our current policy is that all members must wear face masks. We have socially distanced our cardio equipment, strength equipment, and workout spaces for classes. More details on the Mask Policy are available here.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal Training

Process:

  • If you have a session booked with your trainer, you do not need to reserve your visit on the VIDA app. However, you must bring the app so that you can use the barcode to enter the club.
  • Personal trainers will wear masks and give no touch assistance to clients. We will practice social distancing during sessions.
  • Each piece of equipment will be wiped before and after use.
  • Virtual workouts and Outdoor workouts will continue to be available and encouraged.

PILATES

Pilates

Cleaning Protocol:

The Pilates studio will be vacuumed, mopped, and disinfected with Tersano solution before and after each session. There will be at least 30 minutes between classes to avoid crowds of students entering and exiting the studio and to allow for additional cleaning.

Process:

  • Pilates sessions must be booked in advance. In order to increase social distancing in the studio, there will be less reformers available in each classroom.
  • If you have a Pilates session booked, you do not need to reserve your visit on the VIDA app. However, you must bring the app so that you can use the barcode to enter the club.
  • Please wash your hands before and after entering the Pilates studio.
  • Teachers will not be giving touch cues and will keep 6 feet distance.
  • Lockers are not available. However, please do not bring any personal items in the studio (including phones and shoes).

NUTRITION

Nutrition

Cleaning Protocol:

The RD Office will be cleaned and sanitized before and after business hours and in between each client. The InBody will be wiped down after each use.

Process:

  • If you have a session booked with your Registered Dietitian, you do not need to reserve your visit on the VIDA app. However, you must bring the app so that you can use the barcode to enter the club.
  • Please wash your hands before and after going into the RD office. Alcohol-based cleaners and sanitizers will corrode the electrodes of the InBody machine, so please don’t use hand sanitizer until after the InBody test is complete.
  • The RD office will be limited to two people.
  • Download the free InBody app so that you can have the paperless results.
  • Please wear a mask at all times, including during your session with the RD.

ENDLESS POOLS

Endless Pools

Cleaning Protocol:

The Endless Pools are tested and treated four times a day.

Process:

  • Book your reservation for the Endless Pools on the app (available Wednesday, June 24th).
  • Endless Pools will only be available at U Street and Logan Circle.
  • Please note: due to Phase 2 reopening guidelines – we don’t have lockers or showers available. Plan your visit accordingly.

SweatBox

Cleaning Protocol:

The SweatBox studio and each of its stations will be vacuumed, mopped, and disinfected with Tersano solution before and after classes. Additional weights, slamballs, and other equipment can be left in the box after class for sanitization.

Process:

  • You will be asked to take your temperature with a No Touch thermometer at the VIDA Fitness front desk.
  • You are encouraged to wear a mask although it is optional during class.
  • Capacity may be smaller pending guidance from the government. Please book in advance.
  • The sign up process will not change. You can sign up one week in advance.
  • You will be permitted in the studio when you arrive to decrease crowding in the lobby. If you are on the waitlist, check the app before coming to the studio.
  • Late cancellation fees still apply.

Aura Spa

Cleaning Protocol:

Aura spa and its treatment rooms will be UV sterilized, and vacuumed, mopped, and disinfected with Tersano solution at the end of each day. There will be at least 30 minutes between all appointments to allow for proper treatment room sanitation. The spa will close for 45 minutes mid-day for complete sanitation. Staff and clients will be asked to wear shoe covers.

Process:

  • Spa Therapists and Guests will be required to have temperature taken upon arrival to VIDA Fitness with a No Touch thermometer.
  • Please make a reservation in advance. We will not accept walk in appointments.
  • Book in advance. We are building in additional time for sanitization in between appointments which will result in less availability per day.
  • We encourage spa guests to leave all jewelry and belongings at home.
  • Due to limited capacity, we ask you to cancel your appointment if you cannot make it. Spa guests who do not show will be charged in full.
  • Use Venmo and Cash App for tips. Cash may be given in an envelope. Please do not hand your therapist a gratuity.
  • In order to increase social distancing, arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your treatment.
  • You will be expected to wear as mask during massage therapy, body treatments, and some waxing services. Masks will be provided upon request.
  • Please wash your hands upon entry to treatment room and departure from treatment room.
  • We will temporarily discontinue robes and slippers.
  • The showers, steam room, sauna are closed and will not be part of the Aura spa experience.
  • Please do not visit Aura spa if you feel symptomatic.
  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you may not receive full treatment time and will be charged full treatment cost.

Bang Salon

Cleaning Protocol:
We will fully disinfect each styling station, stylist equipment, and shampoo stations before and after each client visit. We’ve staggered appointment times for proper cleaning and sanitization. We have also scheduled a salon attendant during all hours of operation that will continuously disinfect all surfaces in the salon.
Process:
• All services are by appointment only. Book your appointment on our website at the Gallery Place, Logan Circle, or U Street locations. The Yards location is not yet open. Some stylists have relocated so check with the other locations. We cannot accept walk-ins during this phase.
• Please arrive on time. Due to our robust cleaning schedule, we may not be able to accommodate you if you arrive late for your appointment.
• Upon arrival, we will take your temperature with a no contact forehead thermometer. We cannot allow you into the salon if you have a body temperature of 99.8 degrees or above.
• Please use Venmo for gratuity. No cash transactions are allowed.
• You may purchase retail products via credit card immediately before or after your appointment. We can also provide curbside pick-up if you need to purchase products without an appointment.
• Please wear an ear loop facemask during your appointment. Salon employees will be wearing PPE equipment such as facemasks, face shields, aprons, and gloves.
• Please come into the salon with clean, product free hair. We have limited hair washing sinks and they will be dedicated to washing out color.
• Limit your personal belongings to one item that you can hold or place in your lap during your service. We will not have storage closets available for your personal belongings.
• We may temporarily limit certain services. That currently includes blowouts, Brazilian and Keratin treatments. Please check the reservation system on our website for the most up-to-date list of available services.
• Cancel your appointment if you experience any of the following symptoms: cough, fever or chills, shortness of breath, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, congestion or runny nose, loss of taste or smell.

Penthouse Pool and Lounge

Cleaning Protocol:

Chaise lounge chairs, cabanas and cabana surfaces, pool and day beds, towel holders, umbrella, and the pool host stand will be sanitized before and after each use with Tersano products. Guest tables will be sanitized before and after opening and regularly during business hours.

Process:

Hours: 10am – 7pm Everyday

  • Swimming will be available starting Monday, June 22nd.
  • Please book your visit on the VIDA app. For capacity planning purposes, you will not be admitted without a reservation. (Need help with the app? Email app@vidafitness.com.)
  • You will be asked to take your temperature with a No Touch thermometer at the VIDA Fitness front desk.
  • You will be asked to wear a mask when you are coming up to the pool from the lobby and walking around the Penthouse. You do not need a mask when you are in the pool, but please maintain at least 6 feet of distance from other swimmers.
  • No more than six people are allowed at a cabana or in a fire pit lounge area.
  • Towels will be available at the pool host stand.
  • Limited food and beverage menu will be served/available compliant with district regulations.

Fuel Bar

Cleaning Protocol:

The Fuel Bar has been clean and sanitized prior to reopening. This included all cooler, freezer, prep, and service areas. After reopening, staff will clean prep areas, blenders, knives, scoops, shelves, and service areas consistently throughout the day.

Process:

Hours: 10am – 7pm Everyday

  • Initially, only pre-packaged drinks and food (protein bars, Mighty Meals) will be available for purchase while we wait for our suppliers to deliver the ingredients we need to begin making smoothies (cups, milk, fruit, peanut butter, etc.). We know you’re eager to get our delicious smoothies again, but we want to make sure we place orders for and receive ingredients that are as fresh as possible and available in the supply chain. This may take us a week or so to get our blenders blending again.
  • You may order items at the Fuel Bar in-person as usual, but please make sure you wait 6 feet away, while wearing a mask, and limit your touching to only the items you wish to purchase.
  • To ensure social distancing between staff and members, only one employee will be working at the Fuel Bar.
  • When smoothies become available:
    • You may order smoothies at the Fuel Bar in person as usual, but you should consider pre-ordering your smoothie via our app or at www.vidafitness.com/smoothies
    • Because only one employee will be working at the Fuel Bar at a time, they will make only one smoothie at a time. Please be patient.
    • When picking up your smoothie, please do so in the designated “Smoothie Pick Up Zone” away from the ordering area.
    • Staff will clean their hands, prep areas, blenders, knives, and scoops after making each smoothie.
    • Counters, sinks, and computer equipment will be wiped down and disinfected throughout the day.

Mask Policy

In accordance with new guidance from Mayor Bowser, we are requiring members to wear masks at all times, including while working out. Many of you will not be impacted because you have already opted to wear a mask at all times.

However, if you struggle with wearing a mask while doing cardio or other high-intensity workouts – we want to help!

1. Set up a complimentary session with one of our personal trainers to develop a routine that is effective and safe.

2. Our group fitness program will be modified to accommodate the challenges of wearing a mask. Our group fitness instructors have been teaching and training in masks so they know how to adjust the programming for a challenging workout – even with a mask.

3. We’ve added several outdoor workouts to the schedule! Just sign up via the app.

PLANNING FOR A SAFE VISIT

Before You Arrive

  • If you feel symptomatic, please postpone your workout.
  • Book your visit in advance on the VIDA app. You will need to reserve time for your workout, classes, and Penthouse. You may visit for 90 minutes.
  • Check the class schedule on the VIDA app and reserve your spot. You
    may select your spot in the studio in advance. You may visit the gym for 90 minutes including class and workout time, so please plan accordingly.
  • Please wear a mask that you can comfortably use during your
    workout.

PLANNING FOR A SAFE VISIT

When You Arrive

  • Members will check in using the barcode on the VIDA app. The front desk team will use a non contact thermometer for temperature reading upon entering the club.
  • Please wash your hands before and after you workout.
  • Locker rooms are open but please select a locker that is socially distant from other members. If a member is using a locker near yours, please be patient and wait for them to finish before using your locker.
  • In order to minimize interaction, equipment will be placed on designated spaces before class. Wipe down equipment before and after use. We will also sanitize all equipment, so please leave everything out.

PLANNING FOR A SAFE VISIT

During Your Workout

  • Use your microfiber towel to clean equipment after each use.
  • Follow the floor arrows in the locker rooms and exits/entrances in the lobby to help manage social distancing.
  • Wash your hands regularly and take advantage of the additional hand sanitizing and disinfectant solution stations throughout the club.
  • We ask that you return the towels to the front desk hamper after your workout.
