VIDA Fitness Personal Training
Scholarship & Mentorship Program

VIDA & NASM are partnering to award up to 20 full scholarships to aspiring personal trainers within our local community. Scholarship recipients will automatically be enrolled in a supplemental program that provides workshops, study sessions, fitness mentors, and other valuable resources to pursue the CPT credential. Applicants to the VIDA Fitness Personal Training Scholarship must:

  • Live or claim residency, work, and/or attend school in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.
  • Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by participation or leadership in the fitness realm, work experience, or other extracurricular activities.
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in Personal Training.

Enrollment begins on March 1, 2026

  • Scholars will receive access to NASM course materials
  • Scholars connect with mentors selected from VIDA’s current personal training staff
  • Scholars participate in monthly workshops
  • Scholars can participate in ongoing study groups
  • Exams will be scheduled within the month of September 2026
  • Scholars are encouraged to apply to work at VIDA

Recipients of the VIDA Fitness Personal Training Scholarship will receive the following (the “Scholarship Prize”):

  • Participation in the VIDA Personal Training Mentorship Program
  • A unique promotional code to be used on the NASM website. This code will provide access to the following:
    • NASM’s 100% online personal training course;
    • CPT certification exam;
    • NASM-CPT digital textbook;
    • Content learning videos;
    • Exercise video library;
    • Practice exam and quizzes;
    • Exercise coaching demonstrations;
    • One-year subscription to NASM EDGE Trainer Plus;
  • A complimentary NASM CPT hardcover textbook from VIDA Fitness (to be picked up at the corporate office); and
  • A six-month complimentary membership to VIDA Fitness

The next application period will begin 1/5/26.

Applicants should gather the following information needed for the application process:

  • Details of outstanding achievements in school or employment.
  • List of involvement in school, volunteerism and community activities.
  • List of work experience (if applicable)

Only electronic scholarship applications received through the above process will be considered. Paper copies of applications, resumes or other materials will not be accepted.

The UAC Diversity & Inclusion Board oversees the application process, but the PT Scholarship Committee makes the selections. After reviewing all submissions, the Committee will identify semi-finalists and invite them for interviews. Following interviews, 20 applicants will be chosen to receive scholarships and notified by email.

All decisions of the PT Scholarship Committee are final and not subject to appeal. This is a competitive program; not all applicants will move forward or receive an award.

Upon receipt, the PT Scholarship Committee will begin to review your application on a rolling basis. Applicants who are invited to interview will receive a scheduling request to complete their interview.

Once interviews are complete, scholarships will be awarded. At that time, applicants will be notified via email. The email address on file must be active, and you must check your email regularly.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by mid-February.

Information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by VIDA Fitness. No additional contact will be made unless additional documents are needed and/or the applicant is a finalist. No information is collected from the site visitor.

Please note: Scholarship recipients will be required to review and agree to the NASM Terms and Conditions, NASM Privacy Policy and the NASM-CPT Candidate Handbook, all available through the NASM website.

Legal Terms

  1. Eligibility. The VIDA Fitness Personal Training Scholarship and Mentoring Program (the “Program”) is open only to those individuals (a) who complete and submit the application as described above. Individuals applying for the program must identify as:
    • A member of an underrepresented group in the fitness industry.
    • Identify as a member of an under-represented group in the fitness industry. · Be a citizen or legal resident working, attending school, living, or claiming residency in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia.
    • Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by participation or leadership in the fitness realm, work experience, or other extracurricular activities.
    • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in Personal Training.
  2. Scholarship Prize Redemption. All costs and expenses, except for those covered by the Scholarship Prize as set forth above, are solely the responsibility of the Scholarship winners. The winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and other fees associated with the receipt or use of his/her Scholarship Prize. The winner will be issued a Form 1099 in the amount of the actual retail value of the prize, if and as required by law. Scholarship Prizes may not be redeemed for cash; nor may they be transferred, assigned or substituted.
  3. Promotion. Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a Scholarship Prize constitutes a winner’s consent to print, publish, broadcast and use worldwide in any media now known or hereinafter known (including without limitation use online on websites) his/her name, likeness, biographical information, voice, statements, photograph or other likeness without further notification or compensation for advertising, promotional and publicity purposes by VIDA Fitness and NASM, using media of VIDA Fitness’s or NASM’s choice. In the case of any dispute, the matter will be decided by VIDA Fitness in the exercise of its discretion.
  4. Use of Data. By participating in the Program, entrants and winners hereby agree to VIDA Fitness’s collection and usage of their personal information as described herein.
  5. Disqualification; Discontinuation of Contest. Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of this Program, attempting to interfere with the proper play of this Program or to be otherwise behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner, as solely determined by VIDA Fitness, will be disqualified and may be subject to prosecution. If in the judgment of VIDA Fitness, the Program is compromised by unauthorized human intervention or other causes, which corrupts the administration, security, fairness or intended proper play of the Contest, VIDA Fitness reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to discontinue, suspend, terminate or modify the Program and to proceed in a manner it deems fair and reasonable, including the selection of alternative potential Scholarship Prize winners i from among eligible entries received prior to any such discontinuation, suspension, termination or modification.
  6. Release. By participating in the Program, each entrant releases and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless VIDA Fitness, NASM and their parent, subsidiaries, and affiliated companies, third-parties engaged to manage the Program, and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, representatives and employees, as well as each of their respective successors and assigns (“Released Parties”) from and against any and all liability, costs, claims, damages (including, without limitation, any special, incidental or consequential damages), or any other injury that may be sustained in connection with accessing the website, submitting an entry or otherwise participating in any aspect of the Program, the receipt, ownership or use of any prize awarded, or while preparing for, participating in, or traveling to or from any prize-related activity or any typographical or other error in this official rules or the announcement of offering of any prize.  The winners shall bear all risk of loss or damage to their prize after it has been delivered.  Neither VIDA Fitness nor NASM makes any representations or warranties of any kind concerning the appearance, safety or performance of any prize.
  7. Limitation of Liability; Disclaimer. The Released Parties are not responsible for any condition caused by events beyond its control that may cause the Program to be disrupted or corrupted, including without limitation illegible, unintelligible, late, lost, damaged, incomplete, misdirected or stolen entries; for incorrect or inaccurate entry information; or for any typographical, technical or human errors whether due to technical or computer malfunctions, human error, lost/delayed/garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or which may otherwise occur in the transmission of processing of any entries in this Contest. The Released Parties are not responsible for technical or computer malfunctions of any kind, failures of any telephone computer line or network, computer equipment, software, or any combination thereof.  IN NO EVENT WILL RELEASED PARTIES BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF EFFORTS TO CREATE OR SUBMIT THE ENTRY OR WITH RESPECT TO ENTRANT’S PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM, THE PROMOTION OF THE PROGRAM OR ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION OR USE OF THE PRIZE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THE PRIZES AND PROGRAM IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS MAY NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS OF EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS FOR ANY RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATIONS REGARDING THESE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS.
  8. General.By entering the Program, entrants and winners agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Program or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually and without resort to class action, in the appropriate courts in the District of Columbia exclusively. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or a party’s rights and obligations, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the District of Columbia without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules of any other jurisdiction. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
  9. Winners List. To request a copy of a list of all winners, send a #10 self-addressed, stamped envelope to VIDA Fitness at 1612 U Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009. Requests must be received on or before the date which is sixty (60) days after completion of the Program Period.
