New Specialty Workshops Coming to the Yards!
Krav Maga: 9/20 1-3pm
Self defense skills are valuable assets to have, and practicing them also gives you a great workout! We’re excited to launch our brand new Krav Maga Self Defense program next month lead by experienced martial arts and yoga instructors Angela Meyer & Chris Torres.
Angela and Chris teach at the Budokon DC Academy (Angela also teaches yoga at VIDA!) and will be teaching students ways to defend against common chokes, grabs and bear hugs as well as weapons such as guns, knives and sticks, all while getting in great shape!
This six-week program will launch the first week of October, but members are invited to a two hour demo on Sunday, September 20th from 1-3pm in the group fitness studio. Arm Balances: 10/3 2-4pm
Do you ever wish you could take a whole yoga class dedicated just to arm balances? If so, you’re in luck! Come by our new arm balance workshop lead by Group Fitness Manager and Master Yogi Chris Parkison on Saturday, Oct. 3rd from 2-4pm and learn how to fly without leaving the ground!
This two hour workshop will focus solely on arm balances and break down the poses in a calm, patient environment. You won’t have to worry about rushing through the poses before moving on to the next thing as in your typical yoga class – we’re doing arm balances of your choice the whole time!
As we all know, yoga takes practice, and this is the perfect opportunity to take time to focus on getting your positioning and alignment just right for those tricky arm balances. Chris will be available for one-on-one assistance, which can be hard to get for more than a few seconds at a time in a yoga class.
Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or just starting out, this workshop will teach you the foundations for arm balances and all participants will be able to try something new and challenging. Now who’s ready to fly?!
