Keep Our Community Safe. Get Vaxxed! Written by: Olivia Frymark

Getting back to the moments we miss starts with getting informed. We’re calling on you to help get the DMV vaccinated!

The CDC is encouraging all Americans get vaccinated as soon as possible. All authorized COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. The vaccines help prevent you from serious health complications, protect those around you, and reduce the spread of the virus.

As more people get vaccinated, our communities become safer environments for members to thrive. As of July 19, 2021, an estimated 73.1% of DC residents 18 years of age and over are fully or partially vaccinated. While this statistic is promising, there’s still work to be done. To further flatten the curve, the DC government is advising residents do the following:

– Get Vaccinated
– Practice social distancing
– Continue to wear a mask or face covering if unvaccinated
– Wash your hands
– Stay home if you feel sick

Trusted experts and doctors are also working to spread the message of vaccine safety and acceptance. Watch Dr. Lisa Fitzpatrick navigate the streets of DC (with a special focus on communities of color) to help educate the public and engage with people about following science-based information regarding COVID-19. The CDC’s Frequently Asked Questions about COVID-19 Vaccination  is another great resource.
