When it comes to joining a gym, myths tend to cloud the decision-making process. We’ve heard it all: It’s too expensive. It’s for super fit people. It’s not going to work for my schedule. The list goes on and on, and before you know it, you’ve talked yourself out of taking that leap before you’ve even stepped through the front door. Fortunately, we’re here to bust some of the most common gym myths and break down what makes VIDA different. Below, we highlight five myths that do not apply at VIDA.
Myth #1: If I haven’t been to the gym in a while, I’ll be totally lost.
At VIDA, we work overtime to ensure that all of our members — especially our new members — are set up for success. That’s why we offer the Value Added Program when you first join VIDA. The program’s cost takes the place of what would be a traditional initiation fee at another gym. The difference is that at VIDA, we give you something for your money! Myth #2: I won’t fit in if I’m not already in shape.
VIDA is truly for everyone! Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or you’re stepping into a gym for the first time, we welcome people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and fitness levels. As an added bonus, we offer all members a complimentary VIDAFit consultation when they first join. This consultation provides you with an opportunity to talk one-on-one with a VIDA personal trainer about your goals and objectives.
Myth #3: The instructors aren’t as good as those at smaller boutique studios.
Take it from our dedicated members who frequent our fitness classes: VIDA instructors are just as good — if not better! — than the instructors at smaller boutique studios. We firmly believe that we have the best instructors in D.C. Every VIDA instructor is AFAA or NASM certified and undergoes an intense audition process before they teach their first class. They’re trained to work with people of all fitness levels — so whether you’re a gym regular or a first-timer, they’ll be prepared to guide you through the class with encouragement and expertise.
Myth #4: I need to join multiple gyms in order to access the variety of classes I want.
