Good to be Home at VIDA

If you’ve read my last few posts, you’ll know that it’s been a busy travel month for me. In the last few weeks I’ve been in Seattle, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Bentonville, Arkansas for work. Next week I’m off to Portland and then back to Seattle. Needless to say, travel poses a big challenge when it comes to sticking to my fitness routine and focusing on nutrition. I didn’t get to work out as much as I’d like, or eat as well as I should have, and obviously couldn’t work out with my VIDA trainer Susie Powell, but I did utilize my hotel gyms or local YMCAs and managed to get in a few good workouts in each city.
While it’s definitely frustrating to have travel interruptions in my new workout routine and missed sessions with Susie–especially since I feel they’ve slowed my progress, at least temporarily–the workouts I managed to get in on the road were a lot more than I would have done before I started this fitness journey with VIDA, so I’m going to celebrate that accomplishment.
Now, I’m home for a week and getting back to the grindstone. I’m so happy to be back working out at VIDA. I’ve got a few training sessions scheduled for the weekend with Susie before I leave town again, and in the meantime, I got myself up and out early this morning to get in a workout.
I only had an hour, so I did two body-resistance circuits that included 20 reps each of pushups, elevated leg crunches and Russian twists both with a 15 lbs. medicine ball, plus one-minute planks. I also got in 30 minutes of cardio interval training and 15 minutes of stretching. According to my MYZONE, I burned 925 calories before 9 am!
Not gonna lie, it was tough getting up and finding the motivation to work out in the morning (I’m a natural night owl and pretty out of it in the morning) but I’m SO glad I did because I feel great now.
