By Mekita Rivas, VIDA editor/member
You may have heard, but we recently did a major upgrade of the cardio machines at all VIDA Fitness locations. Obviously, it’s incredibly important that our members have access to the latest and greatest so that no matter how you train, you’ve got equipment that works for you! At The Yards location, we recently brought in a few additions that we think will take everyone’s workouts to the next level. Take a minute to learn about these new pieces, and find out what The Yards General Manager Colleen Palomaa is most excited to bring to the gym floor.
FreeMotion Lift/Step (located on second floor)
Great for training your leg and back muscles to work together and improve strength for everyday lifting and stepping.
FreeMotion Chest/Shoulder (located on third floor)
Target muscles in the shoulders, arms, and chest. Aluminum swivel pulleys with a snap clip design aims to kickstart multiple muscle groups.
FreeMotion Quad/Hamstring (located on second floor)
Engage multiple muscles and build up explosive leg power. Learn to functionally train leg muscles to work together to increase power, stability, and joint protection for everyday life activities.
Rogue Echo Sled (located on third floor, behind offices/dumbbell area)
Whether you’re pushing or pulling weight, you’ll discover some intense training options with this one. Increase your heart rate while also getting a full body workout.
Which pieces of new equipment are you most excited about?
I’m most excited about our new sled because it’s an incredible way to train anaerobically that also builds strength. Plus, it doesn’t involve moving in a predetermined range of motion the way some machines do, so you’re forced to keep your core involved and challenge your body in new ways!
What should members do if they’re unsure how to use the new equipment?
Anyone interested in learning more about how to use the equipment should approach a trainer or member of our staff for tips and to ask questions. We’re excited about the new pieces and the training benefits they offer, and we want to share our knowledge with you!
Any fun facts to share about the new pieces?
Just like the name suggests, FreeMotion equipment encourages the user to move freely and recruit more stabilizer muscles, which means way better balance, stability, control, and strength in everyday life! Big muscles look great, but being able to use them effectively to pick up kids, play soccer, or put a suitcase in an overhead bin is super important (and gratifying!).
