They greet you with smiles and if you are there a little early they let you come in to escape the harsh weather. Both those traits show your staff truly care about their members, which is hard to find at gyms.

I am closing out my first couple weeks at your gym, 6th and F location, and just wanted to give some feedback on my experience so far. First and for most I am really impressed with your staff, I am an early gym person and the morning crew is awesome. Your morning crew is what will keep me at your gym! They greet you with smiles and if you are there a little early they let you come in to escape the harsh weather. Both those traits show your staff truly care about their members, which is hard to find at gyms. Secondly, your gym is very well up kept and clean, which goes a long way for me. I am so impressed by your gym I drag my girlfriend to Vida on the weekends instead of letting her go to hers. Hahah. I appreciate you taking the time to read my email and enjoy the rest of your day and weekend.

I just wanted to send a message to share my thoughts on a few things, hopefully you can share them with the management team. I have been with Vida since early January, after having been a member for over 2 years at Washington Sports Club. I was hesitant for a few reasons; 1. The price… It was a bit more but my partner was a member so he talked me into it, 2. The atmosphere.. It was clearly “nicer,” but as someone who has yet to reach their fitness goals (FAT), Vida seemed a bit intimidating. Hopefully what I have to say below will let you know how unfair and false both of those statements are.

First, when I signed up, I met with Alli Phillips, who could not be more welcoming and warm. The perfect person to sell memberships. I had experienced her type before, once I signed on the dotted line she would forget my name. Again, not true, Alli walks through the club and knows, what seems to be every members names, and possibly even more about their life than just a name. She is not only warm but friendly and encouraging , she makes me want to come to the gym after a tough day at work.

Next the front desk staff, in particular Matt and Luke. They always have a smile when I arrive and the same when I leave, they too know my name (sure its on the computer but I like to feel special). When I have had any issue they resolve it on the spot and have followed up to make sure I am satisfied. They should be commended for doing such a great job at something that could easily be tedious and boring.

Lastly, my trainer Sarah Samad. Sarah and I “started” at Vida in the same week. Alli convinced me to give Sarah a shot and after my Vida fit, I was hooked. Her warmth and humor combined with her knowledge and drive have helped me push myself to be doing things that I never thought possible. Sarah’s focus on personal goals and the methods to help her clients achieve them, proves that she is a true asset to your company, not only as a trainer but as a caring member of your team.

I truly appreciate the entire team at Vida and look forward to what I can achieve with the type of support that you all provide me on a daily basis. (Oh, and the new machines… Lateral something or other, over looking the stairs, are AMAZING!!!!)

I have been a member of this gym for several years and it really is great, especially the group classes. But I ESPECIALLY want to sing the praises of a personal trainer there, Nicole Davidsohn. For realz, try to request her specifically if you want some personal training sessions for Xmas, NYE resolutions, etc…I got assigned to Nicole earlier this year after a terrible experience with a different VIDA trainer (he no longer works there, I’m sure in part because of my experience with him). I was training so I could look good in my wedding dress in October (so cliche, I know) and I worked with Nicole for ~5 months before my wedding and I still see her because she’s so great. She has the perfect balance between being your friend and chatting with you, but still focused to make sure you get a damn good work out and challenge yourself every time – she balances friendliness with efficiency like no one else. She’s also excellent at responding to questions, and her knowledge of the science and physiology behind exercise and nutrition is amazing – she’s never not had an immediate and intelligent and trustworthy response to any of my nerdy questions on either subject. And she certainly goes above and beyond, is super responsive to e-mails and texts, has an excellent blog, remembers home equipment you were interested in and sends you notices of when she finds things on sale, lets you borrow her exercise videos, etc…you can tell she’s incredibly devoted to and passionate about her work and pursues it as a craft. Anyway, I looked and felt great for my wedding – friends commented on how fit I was getting before – and am so psyched to continue working with her to stay strong and lean.

“The reason I like VIDA is that it is well-run and people are friendly. Each time I’ve approached the management, they were extremely helpful, effective, and attended to me immediately.”

There is a large variety of equipment and there are plenty of great classes to choose from. Typically I did standard lifting, but I liked varying it up w/ spinning, kickboxing, and yoga. The equipment is great and the design of the gym is also appealing. I also really like the Endless Pools, especially because there’s a mirror in the bottom of the pool so you can watch your form!

Also, the other patrons are always very nice. VIDA is full of very fit people, but I still think it’s a place where anyone can feel comfortable working out. A couple of my friends who aren’t used to gyms and aren’t in great shape were initially intimidated to work out there, but after I got them to try, they really enjoyed themselves and two of them are now members. I’ve also made several friends at VIDA, and I think it’s a great place to meet people if you’re new to the city.

“Gorgeous, clean, great amenities, with big windows and a great location.”

I am a gym snob. I don’t buy designer clothes, but I will definitely go to a designer gym. And Vida delivers. Gorgeous, clean, great amenities, with big windows and a great location. It’s perfect late at night and on the weekends. And the 3rd floor with weights is so well-equipped that there is almost never a wait. .

VIDA is great! I love that the staff is consistently upbeat at 5am; it makes me happy to be there and work out! The locker room is clean, the equipment looks new and I rarely ever see any maintenance signs.

As mentioned previously, I come in early in the morning, so I’m not sure if the clientele is different later on, but I appreciate being able to go to the weight room without having to put up with screaming/grunting lifters or guys trying to hit on me or “spot me”. You can get in, get your workout, get out.

I am sending this email to praise Alexx Zamudio and his quality as an instructor at VIDA. I’m a huge fan of his Dance Cardio and Kickboxing classes. He has the necessary enthusiasm and energy to teach these classes multiple times per week, and he consistently delivers. I find the classes to be not only a lot of fun, but also outstanding workouts. I push myself in those classes harder than I would on my own, and I feel energized and fantastic in the days afterwards.

I really enjoy everything about VIDA Metropole, including other classes, the equipment, pool, steam room, and the hours. There’s no question I would have remained a member, had we continued to live in Logan Circle. But, I had every intention of working out in my new building or possibly joining a more local gym. So, I thought it was noteworthy that you have kept me as member for more than two years now, primarily because of Alexx’s excellent classes.

I am 47 years old and have been lifting weights and staying active which has kept me relatively fit. Recently, I decided to step it up a notch and hire one of your personal trainers to see if I could improve my strength and well being. What a mistake! I was under the impression that I was great at motivating myself and did not need assistance working out, and… that I was in the best shape I could expect for my age. Boy, I was wrong…

Bill Thompson has been training me for the past five weeks at your U street location. I began working with Ashley in July of this year. Several months before, I had made the decision to join the US Marine Corps and was selected to attend Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA. As you can imagine, the Marine Corps training is rigorous, and I seemed to be getting no where in my own physical preparations. I decided it was time to get a trainer.

I came to VIDA after reading several reviews online, and liked what I saw. After surveying the gym, I was introduced to Ashley and she scheduled me for an introductory training session. To be honest, I was initially a bit worried that she won’t understand my fitness goals since her background is in dance. Boy, was I wrong! Ashley made me sweat!

I appreciated not only Ashley’s creativity, but her dedication and desire to help me reach my goals. As such, I would recommend Ashley to any new client at VIDA, and give her my highest regards.

“So, basically I have used most of VIDA’s services, lost 45 lbs., lowered my cholesterol, should be able to get off blood pressure medication, sleep much better, have more energy during the day, dropped almost 5” in waist size, and tons of friends, family, and co-workers complimenting me about what I have done.”

In January, 2012 I had a physical and my cholesterol was elevated (208, LDL 154), and I had slightly elevated blood pressure. I knew I was inactive, out of shape, and needed to start exercising. I immediately began on a journey to lose weight, get in shape, lower my cholesterol, and blood pressure. I started back in my routine at VIDA, going virtually every day, including weekends for about two hours. I had my cholesterol checked in July and there was a 30 point drop (178, LDL 119). I was doing this on my own until I met Brian Kolb last Fall. I purchased a 12 pack of personal training sessions with him and then a 50 pack. I have been working with him since then. Brian and I concentrate on proper technique, stretching, and posture.

I have a complete physical scheduled for February and expect that my cholesterol will be even lower than it was in July. I am currently taking a small dose of medication for my blood pressure but when I spoke with my doctor in July, she indicated that I probably will be able to get off of it after my upcoming physical.
